How the Interactive Ranking Works

The system has been developed by 1993/94 U.S. Open Finalist Paul Lord. He has used his knowledge to produce this interactive global squash ranking system.

Two of the most important aspects of any system is the ease and speed of use. This system has been developed with that in mind. The system has no bias towards any player as all players start with a rating of 0.000. Let me explain how to get an interactive ranking.

Firstly, both you and your opponent need to be members of the site. When Player A submits the result (how to input a result) an automatic email is sent to Player B containing the result. At this point both players have the option of deleting it. If Player B confirms the result an automatic email is returned to Player A explaining that the result has been confirmed and processed. Both players will then have new ratings.

It's that simple! The ranking is sorted with the highest player rating at the top, descending down to the lowest rating. It really is a fabulous system and without question the most advanced interactive global ranking system in the world. You can even view your interactive club/association ranking and print off a hard copy for the noticeboard. So if you and your squash friends need motivating and would like to know your playing level, why not register today. It's great fun and it works!

Below is an explanation of what the numbers mean on the interactive ranking list:-

Below is the graph that is used to calculate the player ratings:-

(a) If players are on the same number of points,
the winning player gains 1pt and losing player loses 1pt

(b) If higher rating player beats a lower rating player and there is a rating difference of 2 pts then,
the higher rating player gains 0.259 pts with the lower rating player losing 0.259 pts

(c) If higher rating player loses to a lower rating player and there is a rating different of 2 pts then,
the lower rating player gains 1.741 pts and with the higher rating player losing 1.741 pts.
